Rep. Sara Gelser, D-Corvallis, has received the “Champion Award” from the Oregon Council on Developmental Disabilities in recognition of her efforts to address the needs of children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families.
Now serving her first full term in the Legislature, Gelser is sponsoring legislation to expand education and employment opportunities for children and adults with developmental disabilities. One of her legislative proposals would make it possible for children with disabilities and complex medical needs to grow up at home with their families rather than in foster care or nursing homes.
